Research Lines
The Graduate Program in Animal Health (PPGSA) carries out its activities in the field of Animal Health, which constitutes the Program’s Area of Concentration. The research line Health and Sustainability aims to develop studies that contribute to the promotion of animal health, addressing infectious and parasitic agents, as well as prevention, surveillance, and disease control measures across different domestic and wild species.
A Tradition in Livestock Health
With a strong academic track record, PPGSA has built a substantial body of scholarly work focused on this sector. Our research integrates clinical medicine and surgery, pathology, animal welfare, parasitology, microbiology, and epidemiology. In addition, the program is deeply engaged in the development of sanitary programs, the study of toxic plants, and the chemical prospection of natural products.
New Area of Study: Wildlife Ecology and One Health
PPGSA is expanding its research to investigate the impacts of human activities on the environment. Our objective is to promote conservation and sustainability while mitigating health risks at the interface among animals, humans, and ecosystems.
Scientific Advancement and Dedication to Animal Life
At PPGSA, we conduct research in morphophysiology, clinical medicine, analgesia, animal welfare, and epidemiology to advance the health of canines, felines, and wild species.
